Moxibustion in Postpartum
Thursday 5th November 10am-12pm AEDST
Moxibustion is an ancient TCM medicine that is relevant to restoration and warmth in the postpartum time. It is a soothing, comforting and supportive ritual.
This workshop is an introduction to using moxibustion with confidence, competency and wisdom. It’s important to develop a respect for the power of this medicine and the contra-indications. That is why I have teamed up with beautiful TCM doctor, Jessie Fayers, to teach you the basics of moxibustion and a special technique you can weave into your care for mothers.
Outline of what will be covered:
Introduction and foundations
Understanding the postpartum body form a Oriental Medicine lens
Key postpartum Acu/moxa points
Point selection for postpartum patterns and building a postpartum treatment
Practical skills and application of Chinetsukyu Moxibusion
We have chosen a loose moxa technique as it is easier to source high quality moxa this way, rather than the commonly used sticks
Tickets to this workshop are $49, plus a starter kit of materials $20 (including postage).
I have separated the two costs as materials can only be posted within Australia.
Or perhaps super keen students would like to invest in bigger quantities straight away. In which case, I will share items and supplier:
Chineskyu Wakakusa moxa
Shuinko ointment
Japanese incense sticks

About Jessie Fayers
Jessie Fayers is a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncturist, Chinese herbal medicine practitioner and educator with over 15 years of clinical experience. Her practice is centred around women’s health, fertility, pregnancy, postpartum care, gut health and immunity.
Jessie’s approach brings together the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine with an understanding of Western medicine, functional health and contemporary fertility care. Her work is grounded in the belief that health is not simply about treating symptoms, but about understanding the whole person - physiology, nervous system, environment and the different seasons of life they are moving through.
Over the course of her clinical practice, Jessie has been mentored in Japanese acupuncture and moxibustion, as well as classical Chinese acupuncture and bodywork, developing a practice that draws from both traditional lineages and contemporary clinical understanding.

About Carla Sage
I am a mother, birthkeeper, postpartum doula and home herbalist residing on Widjabul Wia-bul Country of Bundalung Nation in NNSW.
In my early adulthood I made a choice to take all matters of health and healing into my own hands. Stepping away from allopathic medicine has gave me the opportunity to dive into the vast and wonderful world of herbs and their subtle but powerful ways of supporting the body's innate ability to heal.
My confidence and trust in using herbs in a variety of applications has grown over the years. Becoming a mother has deepened the journey by having to tend to my children's ailments and continuously learn and broaden my scope along the way.
I had the support of herbs in my postpartum journey with my first baby. This was a key initiation in my relationship with herbs and another reminder of their power as they supported me through infection, lacerations, blistered nipples and mastitis.
However it was my second postpartum that beckoned me into postpartum care, with herbs as the foundation. I was fortunate enough to be cared for by a wise woman with many years of experience in this tradition. Directly recieving the herbs and practices was such an embodied way to learn. Then, with self study and guidance, I stepped into supporting mothers in my local community and have been doing that consistently for the last 2 years. I am an enthusiastic student of herbs and continuously witness their power to nourish new mothers and protect them from common postpartum dis-ease.
